Things to Do

Check out downtown Kilkenny

Picture of Check out downtown Kilkenny

We’re so excited to welcome you to Kilkenny, one of Ireland’s most enchanting cities and of course our favorite too! Nestled in the heart of Ireland’s Ancient East, Kilkenny is a beautifully preserved medieval city filled with winding cobbled streets, colorful shopfronts, historic landmarks, and a lively spirit that blends old-world charm with modern Irish hospitality.

What to Explore Before the Big Day:

Kilkenny Castle: A must-see! This 12th-century castle, surrounded by picturesque parkland, is a stunning place to explore or enjoy a peaceful stroll. Don’t forget your camera — it’s as photogenic as it is historic.

The Medieval Mile: This walkable stretch runs from the castle to St. Canice’s Cathedral, weaving through centuries of history. Along the way, discover charming alleyways, boutique shops, artisan cafés, and local galleries.

St. Canice’s Cathedral & Round Tower: Climb the 9th-century round tower for panoramic views of the city — one of the few towers in Ireland you can still climb!

Smithwick’s Experience: For beer lovers, this tour of Ireland’s oldest brewery is both fun and flavorful, complete with tastings.

Local Food & Pubs: From cozy pubs with live traditional music to award-winning restaurants, Kilkenny has something for every palate. Don’t miss the chance to try some local Irish fare (and maybe a pint of Guinness or two!).
